Chris MacAndrew

I first became interested in sculpture while living and working in New York City many years ago. I took classes in clay modeling from life at Columbia University where I came to see the human female body as an expression of everything in life. From there I started to teach myself carving, first wood and then stone. With stone I knew that this was it, and I have been at it ever since. To me the emergence of the human figure out of a block of stone is a seemingly inexhaustible source of fascination. My effort is to make that human form an integral part of the stone.
